MANDATORY, all players must register and pay for tryouts online. This will ensure that all the necessary paperwork is completed in advance and all waivers are signed beforehand. Please select the correct school year grade (Fall Season = incoming school year grade; Spring Season = current school year grade).
We welcome all new players in the Bay Area to tryout for San Jose Spartans. Regardless of where you live, what’s more important is that you make a firm commitment to attend all team events.
Players are required to attend only one of two sessions but recommend attending our main session. Invitations will be extended to players after the tryout sessions.
If there is a scheduling conflict, we will attempt to evaluate the player outside the scheduled tryout. Please send email to chris@sanjosespartans.com. AFTER you have completed the registration process online.
Our goal is to find an appropriate level for all participates. Unfortunately, depending on the number of players and the number of coaches available, we are not always able to accept all players. For players that do not make a team, we have outstanding individual training program and camps to help further develop their game.
Plan to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the tryouts. This will give you time to check in, warm up and prepare for the tryout. Please do not be late as the tryouts will start ON TIME.
All players must bring their own basketball with their name on it, proper basketball attire, a water bottle, and a “Go Get It” mentality.
We will be following Santa Clara County COVID-19 Health Guidelines. Masks are optional. Players will be expected to complete a training circuit consisting of various basketball drills and participate in half/full court scrimmages.
There will be a designated area for parents in the gym.
After the tryout, Spartan staff will conduct a brief meeting to discuss the upcoming season with parents. This will be a perfect opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the program, the coach, and the team.
Player selections are determined by coaches within two to three days after each session. In some cases, players maybe asked to attend a second session. Coaches will email players that made the team as well as those that did do not make the team.
